Assalamualaikum and hello there! My name is Adelia Binti Khalid. You can call me Adelia, Adel, Del or Yaya. Welcome to my website. Let’s get to know each other.

On the 30th October 2002, my parents were cherished with two baby girls, Adelia and Adriana. My twin sister and I were born in Hospital Teluk Intan, Perak and were raised in the small town of Manjung, Perak. I barely remember any of the memories in Teluk Intan as I was very young when we moved to Manjung.
​
Manjung is a town full of many hidden treasures. Almost everyone knows each other, I’ve memorized where everything is and I love it. Puncak Alam and Dengkil were definitely a change of scenery but that did not stop me from having the best time.
​
I have always loved language in general but had a close attachment to the English language specifically. I was always that one weird girl who would bring a big, fat book to a party. There was something about opening a book and leaving the world for a better one that felt so magical. I kept doing that. When I was 7, I even started writing my own stories and poems. (No, you DO NOT want to read them. Trust me when I say they are too embarrassing to share with the world).

Currently, writing is also what I do for a living! I just published my debut novel, All Minds Are Broken under Whitecoat Publishing. Alhamdulillah, I wish I could go back in time and cheer on my 7-year-old self and tell her: We did it! I am also a freelance artist. I am open for art commissions so if you ever need a traditional artwork or digital illustration, feel free to contact me. What else? I also really love debating, I started when I was in secondary school and it has stuck with me ever since. I am always up for a discussion for deep or difficult topics.

With this love of language and discourse, I knew I wanted to pursue the English. During the holidays, to fill up the time by tutoring English for a few primary school students and found that I really did enjoy teaching. My parents are also educators. My mother is a German Language teacher while my father is a district education officer. With all this put together, education just seemed like the perfect fit for me.
​
If it wasn’t obvious enough, I am a huge nerd and probably the biggest cat lover.

PAST EDUCATION

Twins!
I received my pre-elementary education in Tadika Kika, Seri Manjung.
​
For primary school, I went Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Convent Sitiawan.
​
For secondary school, it wasn’t that far away. In fact, I went to S.M.K Convent Sitiawan which is right next to my primary school.
​
I am currently mid-way through my Foundation studies in Pusat Asasi UiTM Dengkil, taking Foundation in TESL.

MY PERSONALITY
I know for sure that I’m a very extroverted person. I love getting to know new people and am always up to learn something new! Really, just put me in any class, be it writing, painting, beatboxing, or of course, English, I will try my best to learn! I can’t promise I’ll be any good at it though but I like to think that trying new things is what life is about.
