Error Analysis Quiz

On the 27th of August, we had an Error Analysis Quiz for Grammar .

Two days before, we were given the chance to answer a mock quiz. During the mock quiz, I made the grave error of not reading the question correctly. Instead of identifying five errors in each given text, I identified an error for each sentence of the passage.

Learning from my mistake, for the actual test, I made sure to careful read the question. Alhamdulillah, I received a 98.5/100. The main lesson I learned was that carelessness can really bring you down and stump your academic success. Always read questions properly and carefully.

Mid-Term Test

For the mid-terms, I  found it very difficult. The hardest part was the section of the paper was where we had to come up with our own words to fill in the blanks. I do feel like I could have done better but overall, the mid-terms were a great opportunity for me to challenge my knowledge of grammar.

Discourse Analysis Assignment

The Discourse Analysis was very interesting. The task was to choose any article and identify the different determiners, nouns and pronouns in the text. This assignment really illustrated to me the use of these essays in a real-world context. I found a bigger apreciation for grammar after this assignment.

NOTES

As preparation for the Mid Terms, I made notes. These notes really helped me recall all the topic that we learned.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

Personally, Grammar is definitely the hardest course. I have never been one for objective knowledge. When it comes to grammar, there are definite wrongs and rights. You have to really understand the concepts and the reasons why they are implemented.

Admittedly, I had a hard time differentiating pronouns from determiners. Little by little, with the help of Madam Hidayah, I can happily say that I know can identify pronouns and determiners very well. I do still find grammar a little tricky but armed with the knowledge I have now, Insya-Allah I will be able to ace my finals.

Speaking of Madam Hidayah, she is such a great lecturer. Her explanations are always clear and easy to understand. I look forward to her classes because every class is a great opportunity to learn something new. I really appreciate all the jokes she slips in once in a while. Her classes and fun and informative and I appreciate every single second. Thank you, Madam!

It has been a great journey and I am so excited to learn more!
