TLMUN

On the 14th until the 16th of August, UiTM Dengkil sent 16 participants to represent the institution for TLMUN competition (Taylor’s Lakeside Model United Nations). The competition was held for 3 days. It was held online on Discord. Participants consist of 4 males and 12 females were sent to different councils to voice out their opinions on the issues given. Registration began at 2.30. After it ended, the participants were ushered to the main chamber of the Discord servers by the admins to their respective councils consisting of UNHRC, WHA, ASEAN UNCIO, SOCHUM, lastly Dewan Rakyat. My friend and I, Fairus were double delegates in ASEAN as representatives of Thailand. The sessions ended at 3.30 p.m. and the program continued with the event’s opening ceremony featuring an opening speech from Member of Parliament of Muar, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman. After that, the second committee session lasted from 4.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.

 

On the next day, the session for each council was started at 9.00 a.m. The session continued and took a break for around 15 minutes at 10:45. The fourth committee session was held from 11.30 to 12.30 p.m. Then, the council stopped for a lunch break when the participants had their lunch and Muslim participants went for their prayers. The session resumed normally at 2.30 p.m.

The council took a break at 4.00 p.m. At 4.15, the sixth committee session began and ended at around 6 pm.

 

On the last day, the sessions started once more at 9.00 am. The final session ended at 3:30 p.m., all draft resolutions and amendments have already been discussed for each council. The program ended with the entertainment caucus, an opportunity for the participants to get to know each other in an informal setting followed by closing and award ceremony. UiTM Dengkil has succeeded amazingly by winning one overall physical award. Here is the award achieved by these talented students: 

 

Although none of us were awarded individual awards, Asasi UiTM Dengkil was awarded an overall prize, Second Best Group Delegation Award. This competition was a great way to enhance my speaking skills and meet new people!
